HOPEFULLY GOODBYE AND SEE YOU BOTH IN MARCH.

Richard and myself were called in for another Osprey duty as our birds were still {and still are today} in residence at Manton Bay. Maya and 33/11 are both at the nest and seem not to want to move. Maya having been one of the last Ospreys to leave over previous years appears to be setting the pace and 33/11 is staying due to another suitor 51/11 still also being present.

One of the satellite tracked birds, 30/05 is making tremendous inroads into her migration having covered 1517 Km in just 3 days at altitudes up to 3260 metres {well over 10000 feet} and at the last up date from the satellite on the 4th of September was roosting just to the East of Rabat.

7th September 2014. Maya was at Manton Bay early today but looks as if she has decided to set off and migrate, she has not been seen for the rest of the day but 33/11 is still guarding the nest as 51/11 is still about.

Update: the 8th September, both 33/11 and 51/11 have set off  South and migrating, good luck for them to return next March and raise some young. No Ospreys are left at Rutland.

30/05 is 8 days into her migration and has covered 3665 Km and is tonight roosting in Western Sahara.

Little Owl Site No. 13.
Not the best of locations for an image but fortunately you cannot tell them to move to a more picturesque position.
Whilst taking this image a juvenile flew into the Barn and knocked the adult of its beam and they both disappeared outside.

We had not seen a bird here for a few weeks so good news to see this bird even if it is a singleton.

Just saw the one adult bird both outward bound and on our return but no Barn Owls to date.

First time for a while we saw two two birds at the barn. Had to rush away for duty at Rutland.
